Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
with kidney stones, my daughter was given Flomax , several days into the medications she is now experiencing more back pain, dry mouth and unquenchable thirst is it the medications or the kidney stones creating the issue She also was diagnosed with hydronephrosis
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
To say yes dryness of the mouth can be there with Flomax, this can also lead to excessive thirst, however this should only be attributed to the drug once other common causes are ruled out: the backache could still ne not explained. So I would advise to check her sugar level and her calcium level as those are other possible causes of thirst and dry mouth. Specifically I would like to rule out high calcium that can give you pain, stones and excessive thirst . The backache can also be because of the Hydronephrosis or renal stone. However these causes should be ruled out first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
