Does Gabapentin Help With Anxiety?
My pain management doctor put me on Gabapentin 100 mg for a nerve blocker due to chronic shoulder pain after working for 18 years with a dislocated shoulder. Now my new psychiatrist wants to put me on it for anxiety and double the dose. I do not find anything online about using this medication for anxiety.

Gabapentin works by modifying the abnormal electrical activities produced in the nerves and brain. It decreases the transmission of pain signals through the nerves and reduces the abnormal electrical activity and prevent seizures in the brain.
It is licensed for use in epilepsy and painful conditions like neuropathy and pinched nerves.
Its use for anxiety would be an off label use depending on the experience and decision of the treating doctor.
