Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking abilify 1 month before starting gabapentin. 2 days after starting gabapentin, the affects of abilif greatly deminished, and my depression was back 2 where it was before gabapentin. But the gabapentin worked very good on my chronic back pain. Should the abilify be increased or the gabapentin be replaced? YYYY@YYYY Thank you---Lisa
Using Gabapentin with Abilify may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment and motor coordination. As a result, you may feel that Abilify is not working.
I suggest you talk to your doctor so that your depression medicine can be changed. You will have to decide whether you want to continue Gabapentin for back pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma
