Hi There, Male, 31, family history of thyroid problems. Just diagnosed with Hashimoto's after follow up to blood tests taken 3 years ago indicated high thyroid antibodies. Wife and I have one child, trying for another. Can hashimotos or associated medication effect sperm count/health? Thanks

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You are diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis. It definitely affect the sperm count. Many male infertility can be treated by treating under active thyroid. So you need life long treatment for hashimoto's thyroiditis. But your sperm count will improve after treatment. Consult your doctor and start thyroid hormone replacement therapy according to advise.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
