Does Hydrocortisone Help In Curing Skin Itching?
I got severe itchiness on both sides of my body - upper arms and waist level . I have scratched of the tops of the raised areas - like hives. I have tried hydrocortisone to calm the itch but it isn t very successful. I have started taking acyclovir 200mg tablest and it seems to be reducing the itch. Am I doing the right thing? Have a Dr apt in an hours time, but a week ago she said it was due to my skin drying out.

Hydrocortisone does not cure anything but in some cases can help relieve the symptom of itching. I do not understand why the acyclovir would help you. it is an antiviral medication. Please let you doctor know what is going on and what you are taking when you see her/him.
