Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had multiple infections on my wisdom tooth causing a lot of pain.. while waiting for the surgery to remove the decayed teeth, the dentist and oral surgeon suggested that I take ibuprofen to control the pain. I just realised that my period has been delayed for almost two weeks now and I m certainly not pregnant and thyroid hormone level is within normal range. Is it possible that ibuprofen causes the delay? I was taking 200 or 400 mcg twice à day depending how much it hurts...
Taking Ibuprofen is not known to cause a delay in getting periods.
Delay in periods could happen you are under stress or anxiety when associated with infection or inflammation at other parts of the body.
Kindly wait patiently and it should happen as other associated factors seem to be normal. If the delay is for more than 10 days, you need to seek medical attention promptly by consulting Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
General & Family Physician
