Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Invokana for diabetes. Since a side effect of Invokana can be vaginal yeast infections, I ve been taking Azo Yeast Plus. So far, I ve not had a problem with yeast infections. If I were to take a probiotic for my digestive health, would this create an increased risk of vaginal yeast infections since I take Invokana?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You are right, invokana can cause urinary tract infection. However it not always there. Yeast infection can occur in diabetic even without this drug. you can easily treat it with a single dose of anti fungal like Fluconazole or cream. Probiotics do not increase the risk if infection so you can use the it safely.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
