Does Letrozole Cause Extreme Dryness In The Mouth?

I have been taking letrozole since April. In the last 4-6 weeks I have begun to experience a dry mouth. It's pretty persistent and annoying. I used biogenesis and it helps, but only briefly. Could this be a side effect of the drug or should I be seeing my dentist or ent?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Letrozole is a non steroidal aromatase inhibitor and can cause dry mouth and is one of the common side effects of the drug..
Other common causes that can cause dry mouth or have an additive effect on the dryness caused by the side effects of drugs can be Severe dehydration,Side effects of medications if you take any, Salivary gland dysfunction, Nerve damage supplying salivary glands, Oral infections like thrush etc..
Consult your physician or get evaluated and if possible dose reduction or change in drug can help..
-As of now for dry mouth chew sugarfree chewing gums..
-Drink plenty of water.
-Avoid regular mouthwash and use specialised mouthwash that are formulated for dry mouth patients
like Biotene..
-You can also instil artificial saliva drops..
-Suck tart candies as it also stimulates saliva flow..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
