General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Levophed is the trade name for the medication norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is found normally in the body in small amounts, the body also releases it as part of the stress (fight or flight response) or in some illnesses.

It does increase the blood pressure and can also increase the pulse rate. Like all meds, there are possible side effects that may or may not occur. All side effects have to be balanced with benefits.

Possible side effects sweating, nausea, vomiting, headache, anxiety, restlessness. There are also effects of not being able to dialyse as needed so these need to be weighed against each other.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
