Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Liptor 20 mg and Lexapro 10 mg. Litpor as preventive as I have calcium deposits but have good Hdl and low Ldl. The Lexapro helps me to relax and helps me to be less reactive and getting mad easy. Within the last year and alopecia universails but this year Alpeica areta, but now growing back slowly. I was told Satins could cause hair lost but I been on Satins for over 20 years without any side effects. Would the satin would now be a cause of hair loss? Also does Lexapro cause any hair loss?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes Lexapro may cause hair loss in few patients and also check for other causes like Infections like fungal or telogen effluvuum or stress or biotin and zinc deficiency etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use multivitamin medication, Avoid antidepressants if you're suffering from hair loss replace with alternate medicine. Please consult your dermatologist/physician they will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
