Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery that removes fat from the human body in an attempt to change its shape. It is an invasive procedure used to improve body contour by removing areas of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise.
How it works is by means of thin tubes called 'cannulas' are inserted into the body, dislodging fat deposits that are then suctioned out.
It is important to note that liposuction is not intended to significantly reduce weight,
cellulite or sagging skin.
Serious complications that needs to be taken care of include
deep vein thrombosis, organ perforation, bleeding and infection.
Along with it, other side effects of the procedure could be: Bruising, Swelling,
Scars, Pain,
Numbness, Post-operative weight gain and Limited mobility.
Depending on the extent of the liposuction, patients are generally able to return to work between two days and two weeks. A compression garment which has elasticity has to be worn and can be removed by two to four weeks.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
