Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 50 yr old male 350 lbs. I have been taking lasik and now my dr put me on lisinopril for blood pressure which was 140/90 in his office when checked but always 135/75 when home. Anyhow, now my pressure is 130/60 and I am always tired and have no energy at all. I used to sleep 6 hrs a night and now I sleep 10. Could it be this new medication? I have been on it for 3 weeks now.
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient it appears that you are using an electronic bp apparatus for measuring bp at home, these are not very reliable. Please get your BP checked at your doctor's office. Lisnopril has side effects of drowsiness and tiredness. but these effects are usually transient. Also if you had high BP for long time, your body is adjusted for that and as BP falls and becomes normal body needs time to adapt and in this transition period some times tiredness and nausea and drowsiness can creep in. As you mentioned your current BP is 130/60, if it has been verified at doctor's clinic then you may need dose adjustment or a change of drug. Regards
