Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Due to insurance issues, my doctor had to change me from diovan to losartan for high blood pressure. Since that change, a few months ago, I keep getting swollen and odd shaped uvula about once a week. It hurts but then goes away after 24 hours. Then days later it comes back. Can that be a side effect of the losartan?
Hello, Welcome to HCM. I have read you history carefully. You have not mentioned if you have any other symptoms like fever, nasal blockage or swelling elsewhere in the body. Swelling of uvula in the way you are mentioning is not a known side effect of losartan. There should be some other reason like recurrent allergy to some food or air borne allergen or repeated viral infection. Hope this will be helpful. Thanks for using HCM. Take care.
