Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Losartan white oval pill has been changed to larger green numbered pill - I ve been told it s the exact same drug but my mother says she is now urinating every half-hour and is uncomfortable. She also had a swollen upper lip that has now subsided. YYYY@YYYY
Losartan pills can sometimes be combined with diuretics and this may be the reason for peeing more often. Your mother will have to ask her doctor if this time she was given only Losartan or a combination of Losartan with a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide). If they gave her a combination pill, the frequent urination generally subsides in a few weeks of using the pill. If they did not give a combination pill, she will need to have a urinalysis to determine the reason why she is having frequent urination and rule out urinary infections.
As for the lip swelling, if it happens again, she will need to stop all treatment and urgently see a doctor. Sometimes, an allergic reaction to Losartan can be the cause of lip swelling and it needs to be addressed quickly.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I may assist you further.
Kind regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj. General and Family Physician
