Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, Let me start by saying I am a 61 yr old female. I have been watching my weight for 6 weeks. I walk 3 times a week at 4 to 5 miles each. On the days I don t walk, I do yoga. I have been taking Meloxicam for about a yr now for a torn rotator cuff. I have my liver tested regularly. My question is... Does Mobic cause weight gain. I have never had trouble before. Is it meds or age/
Mobic has many side effects, one of which is weight gain, which Mobic rarely can cause (less than 2% of patients complain of this side effect). So I would say, even though Mobic is probably not responsible and diet and exercise (along with possibly a slowed metabolism that comes with age) are likely the main factors, it could be that Mobic is playing some role in your weight gain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
