Does Meloxicam Help To Treat Tonsillitis?

Will meloxicam help tonsilitis? I started taking meloxicam for my knees but it doesn t seem to be helping since I ve started physical therapy and I was just wondering if I should stop meloxicam and just take over-the-counter NSAIDS instead. I am a 20 year old female.

Thanks for your query . Well tonsillitis occur due to infection in tonsils from sore throat or upper respiratory track infection . So the root cause of tonsillitis is infection . Infection may be bacterial or viral .

As you mention you are taking meloxican which NSAIDS and surely it will help in reliving pain and inflammation . But it will not remove root cause of tonsillitis and hence it occur again.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist (ear,nose,throat) forp proper diagnosis and treatment . Doctor may order blood test and throat swat test to confirm the diagnosis . He/she may prescribe antibiotics course ( penicillin or amoxicillin) or recommend tonsillectomy.
