Yes Thank.. I have type 2 diabetes and have been taking metformin along with blood pressure medicine 1st norvasc and now Amlodipine forb5 years but my question is many write ups are stating that metformin does not cause kidney cysts in my case they are large and extremely painful all day I also had a hysterectomy with have both ovaries so the only thing that is sometimes bleeding in my mind is the cysyts..I am also seeing an oncologist for the up & down blood count and absolute enery drain every day to the point of not being able to hold my urine at times I m frustrated in many write up staing they are tolerable and cause no pain this is terribly incorrect my physician seems to believe it is something you can live with but if it makes you unable to be mobile how can you please help.

Does Metformin Cause Kidney Stones?
Hello, Some patients have reported renal insufficiency especially if they are diabetic & om metformin. Metformin is contraindicated (if eGFR is less then 30mL/min/1.73 m²) in patients with poor kidney function or renal impairment. You are suggested to visit a Nephrologist/Urologist & get assessed & treated at the earliest. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
