Does Metosartan Cause Discomfort And Pain In Neck Muscles?
Sir , Good Afternoon. My name is Suresh and I m from Chennai. My father aged 50 years was undergone bypass surgery in 2012 july, now he is doing well, recently we were visited our doctor for regular checkup, and he was suggested to replace daily consuming MET XL 50 tablets with METOSARTAN 50\40 now the problem is my dad he is facing little uncomfort after start using these tablets(neck muscles pain) could you please give me your suggestion on this. Thanks in advance.
The neck discomfort after initiation of Metosartan indicates possible side effect with angiotensin receptor blocker action. The alteration in potassium level is the usual cause for the side effect in this manner with muscle pain and spasm. You must discuss the same with his treating physician for the same and manage further doses of the medicine accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
