Does Metroprolol Help To Treat High Blood Pressure?
Good afternoon! I have been taking Bystolic 5.mg for high blood pressure but my insurance decided they wouldn t pay for it ($169/mo. now for me!!) so I have switched back to metroprolol/20mg this week-actually today. Is there any thing special to look for by switching? Will the difference in medication take effect immediately or does the metroprolol have to be in my system for a while?
Tablet Metoprolol is a very commonly used drug to control high blood pressure. It is considered as a drug of choice in the treatment of high BP, also helps in associated cardiac problems like containing anginal pain and reducing work load on heart. It's effect is almost immediately after the drug is taken. Hence, if you are switching back to Metoprolol from Nebivolol there is no problem. BP will be well controlled. There may be dosage adjustment needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
