General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello Madam,
Welcome to Health Care Magic and congratulation on your pregnancy. I read your query and I understand your concern.
The vitamin supplement that your doctor prescribed contains L-Methyl Folate, which is the primary biologically active form of folic acid. It contains also Methylcobalamin (the active form of vitamin b12) and Pyridoxal 5-phosphate (the active form of Vitamin B6). Being that during pregnancy, a woman’s daily intake requirements for certain nutrients, such as folic acid, calcium, and iron will increase I recommend to my patients to take supplements which contains the above mentioned. To help increase your chances of creating a healthy and nutritious environment in which your baby can develop, it is important that you establish a well-balanced diet and exercise routine.
Hope I answered to your question. Feel free to ask again.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy, Dr. Ina
