Hi. I was in a car accident and was given morphine. My period was late and still hasn t shown up but I came up negative on a home pregnancy test. Did the morphine cause the delay of my period or could it cause a false negative? And how long should I wait before going to doctor?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Morphine doesn’t cause delayed periods and doesn’t has any relation with your menstrual cycles. However pain can cause slight disturbances on your cycle due to acute stress and may cause delayed periods. Nothing much to worry and it will return to normal in couple of weeks. You can do repeat urine pregnancy test for reassurance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
