Does NGT Contribute To Polysinusitis?
hi.. my son has a leukemia but hes done already from his 3 yr chemo last yr he sufferred from pnuemocystis carinii last may 2013 after that he often suffers from pnuemonia. for now he has an NGT insertion. he had a sinus xray and results were polysinusitis. what causes polysinusitis? does NGT contribute sinusitis? thank you very much:)

hello,thanks for your query. prolonged usage of naso gastic tube can cause sinusitis by blocking sinus openings, where accumulation of secretions leads to pus formation causing head-ache, fever, nasal block.as such in leukemia, post chemo drug can reduce the immunity and can welcome all kinds of infections. kindly visit an ent surgeon for proper treatment. hope i have answered your query. all the best. take care.
