Does Naproxen Prescribed For Pain Cause Perforated Ulcer?
I was taking prednisone for asthma and naproxen for pain before my last hip operation for osteoarthritis. I ended up with a perforated ulcer. It is now four years later and my other hip is very painful and will need an operation, I am not taking prednisone now and have not for two years. Would it be dangerous to take naproxen again. Tylenol Arthritis seems not to control the pain. I may have to wait several months for the operation. My email address is YYYY@YYYY
** 1. People taking pain killers like naproxen are more at risk of having a heart attack or a stroke and may cause ulcer, bleeding in stomach. [previously it could be dual effect of naproxen and prednisone]
2. so best is to take a delayed-release ( which releases the medicine in intestine and prevent damage to the stomach] a tablet that releases the medication in the intestine to prevent damage to the stomach) tablet, or you can ask your doctor for any other safe alternative.
PS. if you previously had bleeding ulcer, you should not take this medicine.
