Does Neopeptine Help To Improve Appetite In Infants?
My baby is 3.5 months old. he used to drink milk well and regularly. every 3 hours. he hasnt been drinking milk properly now. it s become half his intake. would Neopeptine drops help increase his appetite and are there any side effects as he is still very small
I can understand your concern regarding neopeptine.
I never use neopeptine syrup for my patients since there is no real indication to use it like appetizer.
However, some doctors advise it for gas problem, constipation and colic in babies but there is no medical evidence.
As far as my knowledge and experience is concerned this is my recommendation.
None of the Pediatric text books that I have read recommend their usage in infants. I do not think there is much scientific evidence for its routine usage in children.
However,it is devoid of any side effects apart from hyper-sensitivity.
Continue to breast feed your child and his appetite will be back if there is no cold or other symptoms.
