Does Nitrofurantoin Macro Cause A Pulmonary Disease?

I took this medicine and ended up in er with drug induced pulmonary issue . At the time we did not know the effusion and pneumonia was being caused by the Nitrofurantoin Macro. It took another 6 days approx. I will be visiting cardiac doctor is there anythig he shoud be looking for? Also should I report what happened to me somewhere?
