General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
In my practice I first exclude the pregnancy in sexually active women as cause of delay in the period.
In absence of pregnancy, period can be induce by giving norethisterone to induce the bleeding in hormonal imbalance (cause of delayed period).
Yes it cause delay in the period as it increase in progesterone level.
You have to take 5 mg three times a day for 5 days. Once you stop the drug, period will come in 4-6 days.
And discharge may be due to norethisterone.
So first exclude the pregnancy by consulting the gynecologist and if pregnancy will exclude then you take norethisterone to induce bleeding.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
