Does Norvasc Cause Sleep Apnea?

Is it possible for Norvasc 10mg. taken daily to affect the lungs & maybe a factor in causing sleep apnea. I have a friend that was told it caused her bronchiectasis. her case is complicated & she has asthma. which I don t. I m pulomary hypertensive, miktral valve regurgitation & type-2 diab. for 20 years, well controlled with a/c never over 6.8.taking metformin1000mg-bid & cinnamon 2000mg/with chromiunplicinate. recently diag. with sleep apnea moderate & not using cpap yet. did not see pulmongist yet

Hi and Welcome to "Ask A Doctor" service. I have read your question and here is my advice.
Norvas contains clasium channel blocker called amlodpine. It may have few dose effects like dyspepsia , pedal edema , worsening of heart failure , Constiaption .These effects are not common and alot of people have been using it without any big probelm .There is no evidence that either rit causes bronchiactasis or sleep apnea.
