Does Nystatin Cause Allergic Reactions Like Pain In The Mouth?
I was prescribed Nystatin for thrush after a couple weeks of strong antibiotics for facial cellulitis. When I tried the swish, I had a lot of pain on the tongue. After the swish the pain slowly went away over the next hour. I took it a second time and the same thing happened. I felt it might be worse though. I tried it one more time and the pain was so much that I knew I couldn't do it again. Is this an allergic reaction?
Well pain while gargling with Nystatin is not due to Allergic reaction rather it is appearing to be due to inflammation of tongue and mouth caused due to yeast infection or thrush..
So it is advisable for you to gargle with antifungal Mouthwash like Nystatin but either in combination with numbing agent like Lignocaine or xylocaine or first gargle with numbing mouth wash to reduce the pain..
You can also suck Clotrimazole lozenges and take plenty of probiotics like Yogurt and garlic..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
