Does Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution Help To Treat Stye?

I have a stye on my bottom lash line. I have had it for a week or so, it is a little more swollen today. I used a tea bag compress and it feels a lot better. My son was prescribed Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution, USP 0.3%. Would this help treat the Stye if I use it as well? The solution is from last year, but it has not expired. Also, the Stye is just red at this point.

Hello dear user!
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns!
Thank you for sharing them on healthcaremagic.
Stye, (hordeolum) is a focal infection that can be treated by antibiotic drops or ointments if it is not complicated with edema or cellulitis of the tissues around the eye.
Ofloxacin is a very used antibiotic in this cases and you can use it. Tobramycin ointment of solution would be another choice
I you have edema or inflammation of the tissues around your eye consider doxycyclin orally to treat this complication.
Meanwhile you can keep warm compresses on the eye to ease the recovery.
I hope this answer was helpful to you!
