Hi,
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) can be corrected by means of medications. It would cause
infertility temporarily, but can be overcome by means of medications and regular follow-up.
Hormonal preparations are administered like oral contraceptives, which will help to regularise the periods. Also, there is insulin sensitivity, which would affect the ovulation process. It can be overcome by administering metformin. It would take about 6 months for cycles to become normal and ovulation to happen in time.
Follicular study by means of ultrasound scan might be necessary later on to ascertain that the ovulation is happening at proper time. Once the menstrual periods start to happen normally and ovulation occurs in time, the chances of conceiving improve. Since
overweight is one of the factors associated with
insulin resistance and PCOS, it would be good to consider a reduction in weight by proper diet and exercise.
Kindly take the medications as prescribed by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
