Hi,
Since the medicine has been prescribed by your attending Physician, thus he must have given due consideration, points that need to be remembered are:
- As it is labeled as SP [specific precaution] under safety alert for babies under 1 year, thus one should monitor the
magnesium level since it can cause hypomagnesemia
- By changing the pH of the GIT, can lead to
food allergy, since food
proteins will then be less likely to get digested
- To minimize silent reflux or any other associated feature, one should follow the preventive measures like:
- Avoid overfeeding or faulty feeding, [feed your baby in an upright position
- You should know the method of giving burping in between the meals / feed [give sugar water, between milk feeds]
- Put baby to sleep on his or her back, and not on the stomach
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
