Does Pencillin Reduce The Effectiveness Of Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I have a question regarding antibiotics. I had strep throat a week and a half ago and I was prescribed pencillin to treat, however, I am on birth control and the doctor told me it would make my birth control inactive. I don t think i m pregnant, and I would usually get my period today but i have not gotten it yet. Can penicillin delay your period especially since it affects birth control?

Penicillin can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pill but doesn't have direct effect on periods..
If you had not used any back up method for contraception and are doubtful of pregnancy do one urine pregnancy test..
If not you can wait for your period..
