Does Phenotyin Instead Of Levipil Improves The Restlessness And Memory Lapses?
Hi, My father is 88years. He recently had a fall leading to intracranial bleed in the right frontal, temporoparietal areas with some intraventricular bleed and also some bleeding in the corpus callosum. He is fine now and is at home and is gradually recovering. There is no focal deficit. There were no other complications like loss of consciousness, vomiting or seizures. But he seems to have memory lapses during that episode although his remote memory is excellent. At nights he often gets restless. My question is : Will changing from Phenytoin to Levipil be a wise decision? Will it improve his restlessness and memory lapses? Thank you.
Your question is which medication phenytoin or levipil is a better choice in your father who has had a intracranial bleed in the frontal area of the brain. It is my opinion that your better choice would be to stay with phenytoin because the levipil has had more reported problems with behavior issues including depression and aggressive behavior. His current memory lapses and restlessness maybe a result of the bleed and may gradually improve over time.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions please contact us.
