Does Phexin Suspension Cause Soreness Around Anus?
My son is 16 months old and suffering from cold and cough. Doc prescribed phexin suspension and he has been taking for 2 days now . Now my son has full soreness around his anus and he cries terribly whenever he passes stools which is very less also . Is the medicine causing this problem ?
Based on the history your son seems to have developed fungal infection apparently caused by the antibiotic phexin. I advise you to apply cream containing anti-fungal drugs such clotrimazole or nystatin on his affected areas of the skin.
I also suggest you to change his diapers frequently, rinse your baby's bottom with warm water as part of each diaper change, keep the area dry, and avoid using tight diapers.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
