Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Am 21, for the past 1year I ve being taking postinor 2 monthly, sometimes twice a month, my Last menstruation was 42days ago, n d last time I took postinor was on the 29-11-16, what do this is happening to me, am I experiencing hormonal imbalance? Cause I recently learnt that I ve being abusing it, has the postinor seized my period?
As a physician I would like to tell you that Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive and thus it should be used as a Emergency only. It does have high amount of hormones and thus it does cause some menstrual abnormalities in the patients. I would suggest you should use another regular contraceptive like OC Pills.
I would also suggest that you should take a home UPT test and whatever may be the result visit a MD Obgy doctor if you continue to miss your periods for more than 2 months.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice day.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
