Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Prednisone Affect The Effectiveness Of Cefdinir?
I am taking Cefdinir for a sinus infection. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am avoiding taking Enbrel and Methotrexate because I don t want those drugs to interfere with my antibiotic treatment. Now I am getting an arthritis flare... may I take Prednisone without it affecting the effectiveness of my Cefdinir?
You can take Cefdinir and prednisone together as they do not interact with one another. Prednisone will not reduce the effect of Cefdinir and vice versa. On the other hand, you will have to take prednisone with the approval of your doctor as it is important to be cautious with long term use of prednisone. If taken more than a week, it needs tapering of the dose to prevent severe and life-threatening withdrawal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
