Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has switched Me from prllosec to ranitidine. It is not working to relieve my GI distress. The doctor was concerned that prilosec has problems concerning memory issues. I find nothing to validated that in the literature. Your comments please?
Hi, There are no studies showing a correlation between Prilosec (omeprazole) and amnesia or other memory issues. There has been rare cases reporting of abnormal dreams, or irritation, but nothing of the sort mentioned by your doctor. If you don't have complains regarding your memory, please tell your doctor that ranitidine doesn't help your problem and to switch you back to Prilosec (omeprazole). You shouldn't take omeprazole and ranitidine at the same time. I hope I have answered your question. Wish you good health.
