Does Progesterone Cause Depression?

I m taking progesterone for pmdd for physical and emotional symptoms. I m confused because the progesterone causes those symptoms and I don t have an imbalance so what does it do and when does it ry better? And how does it help the emotional aspect if progesterone lowers your serotonin level

However, it can cause certain side effects, which are as follows: stomach upset, changes in appetite, weight gain, fluid retention and swelling (edema), fatigue, acne, drowsiness or insomnia, allergic skin rashes, fever, headache, depression and breast discomfort or enlargement.
