Does Prugyulton Affect Pregnancy?

Hi Dr. Manjunath, I just got married on 5th May 2012 (which is my last day of my period)..then my next period is late for 2 weeks(so, i got period on 18/6/2012)..my period is 8 days..but after 8 days, it turns to brown spotting and it continued until end of August (during this time, sometime it not just a spotting but dark blood). I went to met the specialist, and done the blood test..the result is Early pregnancy -(but on that time, actually miscarriage process is almost complete). The following week, I did blood test again and the result is, I , not pregnant and the brown spot is still continued. I take a medication to stop my period(brown spot) and after finish the medication, I supposed to have normal period, but the results I only have 2 days period. My Dr. gave me Progyluton and ask me to take on the 2nd day of my next period(supposed end of September). But until now(12/10/2012) I still not having my period and I did urine test at home and the results is negative. Now my Dr. ask me to take the Progyluton (even I m not period). She said, it will adjust my period cycle and if I m pregnant, it will help my baby and will not affected the baby. My question is, based on my reading (from internet), this medication is to prevent from pregnant and it will affect the baby if you re in pregnancy. Please help me because I m really confuse right now. I really want to have the baby..

Hi,irregular periods is a common complaint. If you want a pregnancy you should not take progyluton as it prevents pregnancy and is not safe in pregnancy. You should get your haemoglobin checked once as anaemia is a common cause for irregular periods.secondly you can start tab duphaston 10 mg twice a day to regularise your periods for 25 days a month after consultation with a gynaec.this drug will support pregnancy if pregnancy occurs and does nt interefere with conception.
take care and all the best.
