General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern. Regestrone medication contains 'norethisterone', which is a synthetic form of progesterone, as an ingredient. It works by altering the lining of uterus. It is used for the treatment of irregular periods and painful or heavy periods. Apart from that it also acts as a contraceptive. Kindly take the medication as suggested by your doctor. This medication would help to restore your periods to normal. Kindly do the necessary follow-up as advised.

Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further. All the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S
