Does Ropinirole Cause Kleptomania?
I have been on Ropinirole for several years. When I first went on it, my self-control, and wanting to steal something was uncontrollable . Recentlly, was out drinking,with friends, I try not to drink with any medication. and the outcome was, I started stealing from Jewel. I was notified that my Link card would no longer have money put on it after Aug. In a panic, I put groceriec in my bags, and walked out the door. Arrested, and now face a trail on July 18th. Ropinirole is a dopaminergic medication. It increases dopamine levels in the brain. Ropinirole can cause problems with impulse control and trigger Kleptomania. It would be helpful to discontinue or decrease the dose of Ropinirole. Additionally treatment of Kleptomania with SSRIs should also be initiated.
