Does Rosuvastatin Have Any Additional Benefits Compared To Simvastatin?

Which is safer to take rosuvastatin or simvastatin? I have been on simvastatin for 15 years without any known side effects. My doctor wants to me to change to rosuvastatin. It costs considerably more than simvastatin. Is there any major benefits to rosuvastatin that would warrant a change or could cause more side effects?

Hi,

The side effects are more common with the more potent statins though. I suppose your doctor has suggested the change to rosuvastatin after evaluating your test reports.

Unfortunately I can't do the same because you haven't mentioned any results. The doctor usually calculates the cardiovascular risk of any particular patient. High-risk patients require more aggressive treatments.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
