Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My lab partner and I shared a spirometer in lab class the other day. I changed the mouthpiece, but it didn t occur to me until afterward that I should ve also changed the filter. Could I have caught a sexually transmitted disease from possibly exposing myself to her saliva (or maybe even blood from any sores in her mouth)?
Hello I had gone through your question I can understand your concern you need not to worry as you had changed the mouth piece there are negligible chances of a STD through sharing a spirometer however you can get the mouth or upper respiratory tract infection if she was carrying any. Just relax if you experience any awkward feeling in throat or mouth immediately consult your doctor
hope this addresses your question best wishes
