Does Sodium Hypochlorite Cause Cancer?

Hi - I had root canal done yesterday. During root canal surgery sodium hypochlorite leak through the dam. I felt the burning on my tongue and roof of my mouth and throat. My burning pain level from 1 to 10 is 3. Should I go to ER? Can sodium hypochlorite cause cancer in my body. Sorry, I'm very concerned....

Thanks for the query.

Sodium hypochlorite can cause irritation of the mucosal membranes leading to burning sensation but is not listed as a Carcinogen in humans..

It is one of the most commonly used solution for root canal..

The amount you ingested must also be very less, as less is only used in root canal irritation..

Do not worry as the burning with also subside soon.
You can suck ice and drink plenty of cool water to reduce inflammation and burning..
