Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am thinking about going off of my Sprintec birth control. I was just wondering what the potential side effects may be and also what I can expect with my menstrual cycle once I stop. I have had a great experience with this pill and am nervous going off of it will mess me all up!
Birth control pills contains hormone and cannot be taken for very long duration due to the various side effects.Stopping the drug may cause spotting or delayed periods or heavy bleeding which differs from person to person.
It is essential to complete the full course of pills before stopping. Stopping the pills mid pack can cause delayed periods or abdominal cramps.
After stopping the drug, once your body adjusts to hormone levels, regular cycles will occur.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
