Does Sublingual Melatonin Cause Teeth Sensitivity?
I am experiencing sudden teeth sensitivity that started a few weeks back. They are sensitive to hot, cold and the air. . I am very healthy with healthy gums so this has had me puzzled. I googled and read this is most likely caused by something global such as a change of diet, medicine, or stress. I gave this some thought and realized that this started around the same time I started taking 2.5 mg sublingual melantonin on a regular basis. Could this be the cause? I plan to quit taking melantonin to see if the sensitive feet problem goes away.
I can understand your concern. The teeth sensitivity you are experiencing is unlikely to be caused by the sublingual melatonin you have been taking as no such side effect has been registered regarding the drug yet.
Along with stress, change in diet and change in drugs, age also plays some role in development of teeth sensitivity. The upper layer of the tooth, enamel' wears off as a person ages and as the underlying layer of dentin is exposed, the sensitivity starts.
I would advise you to start using toothp[aste that is specifically made for sensitive teeth such as Thermoseal RA or Sensodent-KF or Colgate Sensitive Prorelief. There are many other brands available over the counter. This toothpaste takes about 3 weeks to start complete effect regarding the sensitivity so you may feel the decrease in sensitivity later. However, applying some toothpaste on severely sensitive teeth and keeping it there will help, too.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
