Does Sulfamethoxazole Trimethoprim 800/160 Mg Intake Cause Serious Or Permanent Health Problems?

Hi, I m taking an antibiotic called sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim 800-160 mg. for a bladder infection. There has been some reporting about other antibiotics that can cause permanent kidney damage and other serious, permanent health problems with the flouroquinolomes classifications. Where can I find out if this antibiotic I m taking has been identified as causing harm such as the flouroquinolomes have? I simply don t trust the pharmacuitiacal industry to protect consumers from harmful, hazardous medications any more Is there any way that I can get the answer without having to sign onto a monthly subscription?

Hi,

Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim is a combination antibacterial given for several infections.

Usually, this combination is very effective and does not have serious side effects unless you are allergic to sulfa drugs.

You should also keep in mind of the fact that every drug has it's side effects but the doctor has to weigh between advantages and side effects of the drug.

So, I'd say there is not much to worry.
