Does TB Re-occur During Cold Weather?

when a patient has been subjected to TB. Medications for 9 months and the medications isnstopped per instruction from the doctorr as there is no more signs seen on x ray, sputum and coughing has stopped. Now that the weather is freezing, does it mean the desease is back? Or is it pneumonia? lung cancer? or just cold.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If ATT has been completed as per instructions, there are very little chances of its coming back. It may be cold, simple flu and should be treated accordingly. However, if chest pain or breathing difficulty along with fever is there, X-ray of the chest is indicated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
