Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just picked up my prescription. I am passing a kidney stone. My doctor was going to prescribe a pain medication and Flowmax. I asked the nurse to remind the doctor I am already taking Rapaflo. She said I probably would not need Flowmax. The prescription that was sent to the pharmacy was for tamsulosin 0.4MG which is , I believe, Flowmax. Also, no pain meds prescribed. Doctor s office is closed, so I cant call. I am confused by this. Can I safely take the tamsulosin and my Rapaflo 8MG?

Does Tamsulosin Interact With Rapaflo?
Hi, NO, these medications cannot be used together. They both cause vasodilation (dilation of the blood vessels and cannot be used at the same time). You may either have to take an over the counter pain medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen till the office opens or see someone else. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
