Does Terazosin, Atenolol Or Diltiazem Cause Kidney Disorder?

I have high blood pressure and taking Terazosin, Atenenol, Diltiazen, a Mononitrate, and Losartin for about 25 years. I m now suffering from a reduced kidney function (Glomular flow rate of about 45). I am 77 years old, have had bypass heart surgery (1984), and three stents, and three caratoid surgeries. I am to have a heart cath and additional stent this week. Main question at his moment is: Which of these meds may be causing kidney disease? I am in borderline stage 4 kidney failure. My doctor just took me off diltiazem and reduced the losartan to half of a 25 mg tablet. I have had some occasions of low blood pressure in the range of 85 over 45. I have generally had BP in the range of 110 over 60. My general concern are the kidneys and the meds that I am taking. I was a smoker previously, but have not smoked for the last 15 years. I am at 150 pounds (5 7 ) and look healthy and trim. I try to exercise, but get tired easily and have been getting angina pain easily. I use nitroglycerin two or three times per week. Ethan

Hello,

Heart and kidney problems are related to each other. I don't think that any of these medications specifically is related to your kidney condition.

Atenolol and diltiazem are not used together. Your low blood pressure may have to do with the problem as well.

Reducing and possibly stopping losartan to let your kidneys time to recover as much as they can.

Be in contact with the doctors to take the right hydration before doing coronarography. This is a risky situation that may alternate more your kidney function.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
